Nancy Rushing
Being an autistic man in a neurotypical world comes with challenges that can feel isolating and exhausting.
Many of my clients have spent years feeling misunderstood, struggling to navigate relationships, work, and daily life while trying to meet expectations that don’t fit their natural way of thinking.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re constantly masking, unsure how to express emotions, or overwhelmed by sensory and social demands, you’re not alone.I work with autistic men of all backgrounds, but I have a particular focus on those who are AuDHD (Autism + ADHD).
The unique combination of these neurotypes can create both incredible strengths and complex challenges, especially when it comes to executive function, emotional regulation, and sensory processing.
Therapy is a space where you can better understand yourself, stop fighting against your brain, and start building a life that truly works for you.

Supporting AuDHD Men: What We Focus On
Many autistic men with ADHD struggle with:
-
Emotional Expression & Connection – It’s common to feel misunderstood in relationships, struggle to express emotions, or avoid emotional conversations altogether. Therapy helps you understand and communicate your emotions in a way that feels natural to you.
-
Sensory Sensitivities & Burnout – Whether it's loud environments, bright lights, textures, or social exhaustion, we work on strategies to manage sensory overload and prevent burnout before it takes over.
-
Navigating Dating & Relationships – From figuring out the "rules" of dating to building deep, meaningful relationships without masking, therapy provides a space to explore connection on your terms.

-
Fatherhood & Family Life – Many autistic men struggle with the demands of parenting while managing their own sensory and emotional regulation. We work on balancing patience, self-care, and clear communication in family dynamics.
-
Balancing Independence & Support – Striking a balance between wanting control over your life and needing accommodations or support can be difficult. We explore what works best for you, without guilt or shame.
-
Unmasking & Self-Acceptance – If you’ve spent your life hiding your true self to fit in, it’s time to reclaim who you are. Therapy is a space where you can let go of unrealistic expectations, unlearn self-doubt, and embrace your natural way of thinking.
My Neurodiversity
I am AuDHD, and my brain thrives on pattern recognition, deep thinking, and curiosity—traits that many autistic men share.
At the same time, I know firsthand the challenges of sensory overload, executive function struggles, and social exhaustion.
My lived experience helps me connect deeply with the men I work with, offering practical strategies that actually make sense for an autistic and ADHD mind.
I am also a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and the mother of two Highly Sensitive Children (HSC).
Through my own journey, I’ve come to believe that autistic men deserve spaces where they don’t have to mask, explain themselves, or force themselves into neurotypical norms.
Therapy should be one of those spaces.
Why work with me?
As someone with AuDHD, I understand the unique blend of strengths and struggles that come with being autistic and ADHD.
Many of the tools out there don’t work for our brains—so I focus on strategies that actually make sense for neurodivergent minds.
I provide a space where you are fully understood and accepted.
My goal is to help you stop fighting against your natural way of thinking and start building a life that actually works for YOU.
